A Statistical Study of the Lumbosacral Region Associated with Low Back Pain in Korean Adults.


Abstract
A statistical study of the lumbosacral region were reported on 252 cases low back pain of the Korean adults obtained during a period of 6 years from Jan. 1965 to Dec. 1970, at the Dept. of orthopedic Surgery, College of Medicine, Korea University.
1) The study of the 252 cases were consist of 114 cases in male and 138 cases in female, which of age
group were above 17 years of age, the youngest was 17 years of age and the oldest was 65 years old.
2) In the lateral view of the roentgenograms, the results were summarized as follows: Ferguson angle M 38.24¡Æ

Mitchell angle M 142.19¡Æ
F 145.73¡Æ
L-5 horizontal angle M 19.51¡Æ
F 19.03¡Æ
Promontorium angle M 131.75¡Æ
F 133.02¡Æ
3) Ferguson¢¥s angle and 5th lumbar horizontal angle showed to be closely related with low back paine and the others shwed no any relation ships in it¢¥s mean nalues.
4) Mitchell¢¥s angle in the female patients associated with low back pain were revealed obvoiusly increased.
5) In the L-5 horizontal angle, we have noted little differences of the angles between both sexes.
6) The plane of facets in lumbar spines of patients associated with low back pain appeared to be changed into coronal planes.
